WARSAW DESTINATION ALLIANCE

WDA Objectives

  • Improve the image of Warsaw throughout the world
  • Promote financial investment in tourism by the government  
  • Develop a partnership between the public and private sectors 
  • Maintain the growth of WDA 
  • Expand beyond Warsaw and chapter cities to become Destination Poland

To be the leader in marketing and facilitating the highest quality tourism in Warsaw.

WDA in 2011

In 2011, the WDA will join the Warsaw Tourist Organisation ( Polish: Warszawska Organizacja Turystycna; WOT),  as a founding member.
WOT is a local association of about 20 institutions and companies, mainly Warsaw City Hall companies that  decided to pursue a common goal of promoting Warsaw as a tourism destination and to construct and develop a local tourism product. The WDA is the only NGO among the founding members of WOT.
WDA’s  membership of WOT is  the culmination of 9 years of work of promoting the city and lobbying the city authorities on the importance of  developing a public – private company with the remit to promote the City.   WOT  will be similar to  the successful promotional organizations in cities across  Europe charged  with the job of promoting the city for business and leisure tourism. For example:  Berlin and Partners  or Amsterdam Tourism and Congress Bureau.
Our goal as the WDA is to harness the skills and expertise of our members, who make up an important element of the tourism and hospitality industry in the city, to this new – and to be powerful  promotion body. WOT will have the fiscal support of the Mayor’s office and the capacity to draw on promotion funds raised through the city’s climate tax – soon to be introduced.
The WDA plans to inform our members soon on how the foundation and its members will be able to work with WOT on promotional opportunities for the city, that will have a fiscal benefit for both WOT and the commercial entities- WDA members involved.
The current and medium term objectives of the WDA are to promote the city as a venue for the small and medium term MICE  segment – in preparation for the much bigger challenge ahead of  selling of conferences, meetings and events to fill the Congress, Conference and  mega Exhibition facilities to be constructed next to the National Stadium. Our idea is to include these objectives into the strategy for Warsaw as a tourism destination, the document is expected to be formulated at a very beginning of WOT activities. Also, to pursue these objectives will be the WDA’s priority within WOT.
We believe that WDA members that are with us now or will join us in the near future, will not only be at the forefront of our mission, as a part of the WOT organization, but they  will also benefit from business opportunities presented through the WDA’s membership of WOT,  and the new conferencing and meeting facilities at the National Stadium.
