UEFA Euro 2012
Poland and Ukraine will be joint-hosts of the EURO 2012 final round. The decision was announced by UEFA President Michel Platini on April 18th 2007. It will be third time in UEFA history, that two countries will host the event. For the first time it happened on 2000 in Belgium and Holland. Also Euro 2008 will be co-hosted by Austria and Switzerland.
Poland and Ukraine will hold matches in four venues at the 2012 tournament. The predicted locations in Poland are Gdańsk, Poznań, Warsaw and Wrocław, with Chorzów and Kraków in reserve. Host cities in Ukraine will be Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kiev and Lvov with Odessa as a reserve city. The most probable locations are Warsaw for the opening game and Kiev for the final. The predicted time is June 9th – July 1st 2012. The exact date of the games will be set by UEFA in about 2010.
Polish greatest football successes so far were a bronze medal at the FIFA World Cups of 1974 and 1982. Ukraine's footballers reached the World Cup quarter-finals as an independent nation in 2006.
