See the WDA eventsWake up to Warsaw - WDA Gala 2007 The Warsaw Destination Alliance gala at the Hilton Warsaw Hotel & Convention Centre took place on October 27th andwas an opportunity to celebrate it’s upcoming 5th anniversary and to highlight the foundation’s activity over this time. In February 2008 there will be 5 years since the Warsaw Destination Alliance foundation has been officially registered and began its efforts to create positive image of Warsaw abroad. The idea of forming an organization that would support promoting Warsaw came up in May 2001. A group of Warsaw hotels got together with the desire to promote the city – recalls Alex Kloszewski, President of the Warsaw Destination Alliance. These hotels were Le Royal Meridien Bristol, Hayatt Regency Warsaw, Intercontinental Warsaw, Sofitel Victoria Warsaw, Marriott Warsaw and Sheraton Warsaw Hotel. Today, after almost five years WDA has 90 member companies representing different sectors of economy and has clear results from its work. Most important Warsaw Destination Alliance achievements over this time were implementing six advertising campaigns in international media (sixth Warsaw’s campaign goes on on BBC World till November 11th), raising four million PLN invested then into marketing actions and bringing many significant conventions and congresses to Warsaw. The result of these activities is 40 000 roomnights sold between 2004 - 2009 and encouraging more companies based in the capital to work for the promotion and the development city. During the ceremony Warsaw Destination Alliance foundation awarded its partners in nine categories: 1. WDA Strategic Partners: 2. Best International Media Partner 3. Best Local Media Supporter 4. Best Levy Producer of the Year 5. Best Levy Producer Per Available Room 6. Best MICE Partner 7. Walking Art Tour Supporter 8. Most Supportive Associate Member
The ceremony was hosted by Hubert Urbański. WDA guests were entertained by one of the WDA members - The Sabat Theatre of Małgorzata Potocka.
Warsaw goes global - WDA Gala 2006 During the gala, WDA launched its 6th BBC World “Wake up to Warsaw” campaign. The spot prepared by WDA in cooperation with BBC World promoting Warsaw was presented for the first time at the Marriott hotel. During the gala, for the third time, WDA presented Awards to its members. The strategic partner of the event was LOT Polish Airlines. The ball room at the Marriott hotel was decorated as the interior of a plane, and the famous journalist Agata Konarska, was the host of the ceremony.
Warsaw - Past, Present and Future - WDA Gala 2004 It was our 1st gala, which turned out to be a huge success! We distributed awards to our partners who supported us from the very beginning, when we were still uncertain whether or not we would fulfill our mission. For the first time, a live spot on CNN was aired. The spot was prepared by the Henyo Behrendt agency and was similar to the one shown on BBC World aimed at promoting Warsaw as a place to visit. The campaign’s slogan was Let’s meet in Warsaw. Joining us from a similar organization to WDA in San Antonio, Texas, guest speaker Marco Barros, Executive Director of the San Antonio Area Tourism Council made a speech on the hospitality industry. Our member, the Sabat Theatre, prepared a special show that amused the 250 attending guests. Attendance: 250 guests.
